“The Prince” Takes Mickey Out of British Royals
When it comes to satire, nobody is safe … especially not the members of the British Royal Family.
On Wednesday, 28 July, HBO Max – an American streaming service – released a trailer for its upcoming animated comedy series titled “The Prince”. As the name suggests, it centres on a fictionalised, more vulgar version of Prince George, the oldest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Voiced by the series creator, Gary Janetti, the eight-year-old royal is seen posing for Instagram selfies, hosting extravagant play-dates, and brow-beating his butler, Owen, whose voice is supplied by actor Alan Cumming.
Along with the focus on Prince George’s daily life, the series pokes fun at the rest of his family, namely his parents and his grandmother herself, Queen Elizabeth II.
It also highlights the efforts of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – voiced by Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad – as they attempt to settle down in Los Angeles, California, after breaking away from the royals.
The first 12 episodes of “The Prince” are already available to watch on HBO Max, and needless to say, it promises to be a wild ride.
